Nostalgic For My Paris Apartment On Bastille Day

apt5
(stairs to my metro stop)

It’s Bastille Day and for that reason, I’m really missing France today. So, I wanted to post a few pictures of my old apartment in Paris for those of you who may not have seen it before.

Sorry for the light in some of these but these are the best I’ve got. (I’m kicking myself for not having taken more pictures!)

I think I’ll take the rest of the day off, watch a few of my favorite French films, listen to some Carla Bruni and have a kir royal to celebrate. Happy Bastille Day!

Oh Alek it's perfectly fine to miss your wonderful apartment! And I just love the view from the Terrace windows, so dreamy. Enjoy all the special treats the day will bring your way.

I'd miss it too. It's lovely. I really love your having the Mid Century chair there.

I've always been a sucker for a good molding and herringbone floors.

Thanks for sharing the pix with us.

Your apartment in Paris was absolutely beautiful and charming! I'd miss that, too! Oh and another thing I'm finding we have in common… I lived in Italy for three year and grew up in Seattle. So, I get the whole love affair with Europe thing :) Enjoy your day!

Had a Kia Royale yesterday….my dad died last October ( he was 91 and had had a wonderful life ) and it was his birthday yesterday so we all went out for dinner and drank a toast to him……love the apartment…dead jealous…..why didn't you buy the boots ?….I bought them because they had been reduced twice in the sale otherwise I don't think that I would have bought them, they were really expensive…..I always wait for the Toast sale….cheapskate that's me !!!!! My daughter is in Bergerac at the moment and really looking forward to the celebrations and the fireworks tonight….wish I was there with her. in my boots. XXXX

Thanks, everyone! You're the best. It was VERY hard to leave that apartment and Paris in general. But I do plan on going back someday so it's not all sad.

    PlushPalate: Tweeting you . . .

    bananas: You have to go!

Jacqueline: What a lovely way to remember your father. :) As for the boots, I thought long and hard but decided I probably wouldn't wear them very much plus I had just bought a pair of ridiculously expensive and impractical but very beautiful shoes(!)

Whoa Alex! You are completely right – we are decorating soul mates! I would never have left that apartment… my recent trip to France has spoiled me forever and I am desperate to go and live there…

And I also lament not more thoroughly photographing my last abode … a gorgeous warehouse/loft that was just made for me! Alas, my only photo is on my phone and I have no idea how to put it on the computer from there!

Will be back often, my new friend xx

Happy Bastille Day my friend! I still couldn't adore anything more than I adore that orange chair. So glad it made the trip with you and so glad you are here in Seattle. Your presence makes us all infinitely more stylish!

What beautiful pics – bring back so many happy memories of the time I've spent in France – and especially Paris – as a student and more recently on vacation. (Visit France practically every year!)

Have so enjoyed my visit – will return again soon to catch up with earlier posts!

    Happy Bastille Day~

I your apt. would cause me to suffer much pain on day such as today as well. Everyday really; your place was wonderful. The dining room had such light. Have a few kir royals my friend!

Oh. My. Goodness. That place was stunning. I'm gonna make it to Paris someday, or die trying. Love the light, the mirror, and the herringbone floors. Hubs has promised to do a herringbone inlay in the house we're building. Can't afford to do the whole thing -even though we're in the hardwood business!

Thanks for visiting me and following.

Oh sweet nostalgia. It is hard to leave a beautiful place, and yours looked divine. That parquetry, white walls and tall casement windows that you only really see in Parisian apartments. Make sure the French films is a tear jerker (oh I forgot they usually all are).

another beautiful apartment by alek! I still can't get over how you've actually lived in Paris. What a dream. Happy Bastille day to you! The first time I visited Paris, I was backpacking through Europe with friends and we arrived to Paris on Bastille Day with nowhere to stay + everything booked. We finally found some crazy little hotel by the train station and stayed in this room that should be in a movie, it was so eccentric and cool all in one. Once we dropped off our bags it was off to the Eiffel Tower for fireworks.

Ugh, this post makes me so happy and so sad. I lived in Paris for awhile and even had my first child there (wonderful souvenir) and I have been missing it terribly lately. Funny, I watched La Gloire de Mon Pere and Les Parapluies de Cherbourg a few weeks ago. Sigh. Happy belated Bastille Day.
