Some Black To Go With All The White?

I saw this bedroom in Domino a while ago and clipped it for my inspiration book. It’s Alexander Wang’s apartment in New York:

But I don’t remember that article showing the other side of the bed:

This photo has been posted a lot around the blogosphere lately and I’m in love with it, too.  We have the same white bed and this photo makes me want to bring some black into the room. I always thought black was too harsh but I’m loving a lot of black and white rooms right now:

The walls looked more black in the magazine:

I also like the striped drapes in this photo:

Because our house is contemporary, I’ve resisted the urge to hang drapes and left the windows and doors clean with just white shades. But in the bedroom, it may be just the thing to warm it up a bit.

I am really loving the black and white themes in these pics. The first is my fav, mixed with warmth of beige. I loved the mix so much I have dedicated the front of my shop to the color combo. Gets a lot of attention too! People really respond to it. I think because, on some level we are comfortable with the feel of the mix. Great post Alek!

The black accents are beautiful, I agree. My bedroom – which is quite soft with neutral walls and painted French furniture has a couple of black bits , a throw and a mirror over the fireplace with a black frame. These images have prompted me to think about introducing some more. Thanks for the great inspiration, xv.

I am gaga over black walls. I committed to one entirely wall painted in a gloss black that has two story high windows. If I didn't move so much I would of been gutsy to do more. Love the photos. The dining room is so 'ladies business suit'. Love it!
    Thanks for sharing
