April To Do List and March Recap
(Corbis)
Wow, is tomorrow April already? I guess this means I have to face March’s to do list. Here’s what I managed to get done this month:
1. Clean up the studio; hang artwork.
2. Add hanging space to dressing area.
3. Spruce up dressing area.
4. Move armoire.
5. Hang artwork in bedroom.
6. Find place for two end tables.
7. Finish [...]
Pierre Bonnard’s Interiors
I’ve been an admirer of Pierre Bonnard ever since I saw an exhibit at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris a couple of years ago so I was really happy to get a chance to see his exhibit at the Met when I was in New York last week. In looking at his interiors, I was really [...]
Pink Walls?
(Living Etc.)
A while back, I had our tiny powder room painted a hot pink. (Photos forthcoming, I promise.) It’s the only room where the walls aren’t white because well, I’m a fan of white walls. But now I’m seriously considering painting one of the walls in my studio a shade of pink like this:
(Design Sponge)
(Domino)
or something [...]
More Tagging
(flickr)
It looks like a week of tag. I’ve been tagged by Kristina and here are the rules:
1. Respond and rework. Answer the questions on your blog, replace one question you dislike with a question of your own invention; add a question of your own.
2. Tag eight other un-tagged people.
What is your current obsession? Everything Spanish.
Good fika place? (That [...]
Maybe a Shed Is All I Need
(scottsofthrapston.co.uk)
You know that cabin I’m dreaming of? Sometimes I think I could be happy with something like this plunked down in our backyard. I mean look at the possibilities:

Wouldn’t it be a fun place to have outdoor parties?

Or sip tea and read a good book?

To dine al fresco?

I had actually entertained this idea briefly when [...]
What's Your Style?
(shootfactory.co.uk)
I have a hard time describing exactly what my style is. But if I could use a picture to describe my style today, it would be this one right here. I’d actually love to see what everyone else would come up with so, I’m going to try to start a challenge. (I know that’s kind [...]
Hello, Green
(I suppose I should have posted this on St. Patrick’s Day.) Anyway . . . I’ve experimented with all sorts of colors in the houses I’ve lived in but the one that I always avoided was green. I just never liked it. But in the last year or so, I’ve grown to love it. It [...]
Mood Board #4 (and #5) for the Bedroom
My last idea for the bedroom (at least for now) is pretty much the same as Mood Board #2 except to add a neutral wallpaper – gray is my neutral of choice these days. I would keep everything white or gray so it can just be the background for different looks with different accessories like [...]
Mood Board #3 for the Bedroom
My third idea for the bedroom is to glam it up a little with black and adding some beige and other neutrals, inspired by Alexander Wang’s bedroom I posted about last week. If I leave the walls white, I can switch from the second option to this pretty easily. This would be nice in the colder [...]
Moodboard #2 for the Bedroom
The second idea I have for the bedroom is to forego the wallpaper, keep everything white and just add pops of color with accessories. This is probably the best option for me since I like changing things around so much. In a room like this, I could easily change the mood just by swapping out [...]
Mood Board #1 for the Bedroom
I’ve been waffling about what to do in the bedroom for too long and need something to help move things along so I’m putting together some mood boards to help me decide. Here is the first one:
The idea is to stay with white on the bed and walls and add yellow wallpaper, gray rug and [...]
Still Lovin' Yellow

I’m still loving it and think I need to do something about it.

Things I Really Don't Need But Like (Budget Edition)
It’s almost certain that if I like something, it ain’t cheap. I’ve just accepted it because I’m also a big believer in “you get what you pay for.” So it’s always a shock when I fall for something then learn that it’s actually reasonably priced. Here are some things I’m liking lately:
I love cb2’s Bauhaus [...]
Some Black To Go With All The White?
I saw this bedroom in Domino a while ago and clipped it for my inspiration book. It’s Alexander Wang’s apartment in New York:
But I don’t remember that article showing the other side of the bed:

This photo has been posted a lot around the blogosphere lately and I’m in love with it, too. We have the [...]
My Studio: the Ongoing Saga
(livingetc.com)
I have been putting off fixing up my studio forever and at this point, it’s downright embarrassing. I have plenty of space and great natural light. I’ve also played around with the furniture placement and think I’ve come up with the optimal layout. But as usual, I have too many ideas and I’m torn as [...]
Dinner Is Served
(skonahem.com)
Apparently, I’m in a festive mood lately because I’d also like to have a dinner party just like this. This is just too crazy beautiful.
By the way, I’m twittering now so let me know if you are too so I can follow along.
Way Off Into The Future
When I move back to Paris – and that is the plan – I’d like a dining room (and birthday party) just like this:

And by the way, can you tell I’ve found my new favorite website? Sarah Kaye Represents is just a treasure trove of beautiful images from amazingly talented photographers. I can’t get [...]
Changing Styles
(marieclairemaison.com)
Am I just fickle or have you all experienced complete changes in style over the years? Those “what the hell was I thinking” decisions? In our first apartment, I had long purple velvet drapes custom made for these narrow but tall living room windows. I’m not sure how I came to that decision but at [...]
Rustic Charm
I really need to do about a dozen things around here, but it’s so much more fun to look at pretty pictures instead . . . more inspiration for that cabin:

Thinking About the Garden
The days are getting lighter and warmer and that has me thinking about the garden. There’s lots of work to be done out there, too, including putting in a little vegetable garden. I’m determined that this is the year my black thumbs are going to finally grow something edible.
Stripes And Plaids For The Cabin

If we end up with a cabin in the woods or the mountains, I want it to look and feel just like this.
